Description
This vintage style painting of lavender sprigs was created with encaustic and oil pastels.
Encaustic is derived from the Greek word meaning “to heat or burn in” (enkaustikos). Encaustic medium is made up of natural beeswax and damar resin (crystallized tree sap). The medium can be used alone or pigments can be added to achieve colours. Heat is used throughout the encaustic process, from melting the beeswax to fusing the layers of wax.
