Artist's Description
This is an encaustic sampler featuring a decorative motif with various marks, oil rubbings and image transfer.
Encaustic is derived from the Greek word meaning “to heat or burn in” (enkaustikos). Encaustic medium is made up of natural beeswax and damar resin (crystallized tree sap). The medium can be used alone or pigments can be added to achieve colours. Heat is used throughout the encaustic process, from melting the beeswax to fusing the layers of wax.

About Christine Chin-Fook
I have always had a passion for drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, I spent much of my career working in graphic design, marketing, and finance in the corporate world while raising my family. Now, I am finally happy to rekindle my passion for the visual arts and love every moment of this creative journey. My works tend to be bright and colorful, perhaps a reflection of my island upbringing. The process of creating is experimental and rewarding as I welcome surprises in the way my thoughts interact with any medium, whether that be acrylics, watercolors, encaustic wax, oil and cold wax, or mixed media. Welcome and thanks for stopping by.
